Semarang State University (Unnes) is one of the biggest state universities in Indonesia which was established in 1965. It is the first university that declared itself as the Conservation University in Indonesia. This conservation university was declared by Rector of Semarang State University in a glorious declaration attended by the Minister of National Education of Indonesia on March 12th, 2010. When it was first established in 1965, it was a Teacher Training College (IKIP). It accommodated the need of teachers around Central Java and gave a great attention to education. Then, by the Indonesian Presidential Decree No. 124 in 1999, IKIP Semarang was converted to be Semarang State University.

CONSERVATION: A GREAT VISION
Unnes is a conservation university. The idea of conservation has become its vision to be an international conservation university which is healthy, outstanding and prosperous. Regarding the vision, Unnes determine to consistently uphold the idea of protection, preservation, utilization and sustainable development of natural and cultural resources of Indonesia. Unnes also put conservation as a manifestation of the main duties of university, namely education, research and community service.
Mission of Unnes is:
1. To organize and develop education and international excellence in the field of education and non education.
2. To develop, create and/or disseminate meaningful and useful science, technology, arts and sports.
3. To develop the culture and civilization of Indonesia that upholds the value of conservation.
Several policies have also been established to support the vision, such as paperless policy, bike or walk to campus, waste management and clean energy.

FACULTIES AND STUDY PROGRAMS
Currently Unnes has 8 faculties and a post graduate program. They are:
1. Education Sciences Faculty, consists of Educational Technology (S1), Pre-School Education (S1), Elementary School Teacher Education (S1), Outside School Education (S1), Guidance and Counseling (S1) and Profession of Counselor.
2. Languages and Arts Faculty, consists of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (S1), Javanese Education (S1), Javanese Literature (S1), English Education (S1), English Literature (S1), French Education (S1), French Literature (S1), Japanese Education (S1), Arabic Education (S1), Fine Arts Education (S1), Fine Arts (S1), Visual Communication Design (S1), Dancing Education (S1) and Music Education (S1).
3. Social Sciences Faculty, consists of History Education (S1), History Science (S1), Geography Education (S1), Geography (S1), Pancasila and Civics Education (S1), Sociology and Anthropology Education (S1).
4. Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, consists of Mathematics Education (S1), Mathematics (S1), Applied Statistics and Computing (D3), Physics Education (S1), Physics (S1), Chemistry Education (S1), Chemistry (S1), Biology Education (S1), Biology (S1) and Natural Sciences Education (S1).
5. Engineering Faculty, consists of Construction Engineering Education (S1), Architecture (S1), Civil Engineering (D3), Mechanical Engineering Education (S1), Mechanical Engineering (D3), Chemical Engineering (D3), Electronic Engineering Education (S1), Electronic Engineering (D3), Information & Computer Technology Education (S1), Fashion Design Education (S1), Culinary Education (S1), Beauty Make Up Education (S1).
6. Sports Sciences Faculty, consists of Physical, Health and Recreation Education (S1), Elementary School Sport Teacher Education (S1), Sport Coaching Education (S1), Sport Science (S1) and Public Health Science (S1).
7. Economics Faculty, consists of Accounting Education (S1), Koperasi Education (S1), Office Administration Education (S1), Accounting (S1), Management (S1), Development Economics (S1).
8. Law Faculty, consists of Law Science (S1).
9. Post Graduate Program, consists of Education Management (S3), Language Education (S3), Sport Education (S3), Elementary School Education (S2), Education Curriculum and Technology (S2), Education Management (S2), Guidance and Counseling (S2), Arts Education (S3), Indonesian Language Education (S2), English Education (S2), Social Sciences Education (S2), Natural Sciences Education (S2), Mathematics Education (S2) and Sport Education S2).

FACULTY MEMBERS AND FACILITY
Unnes has qualified education staff (lecturers). They are 34 active professors and 116 doctors. Unnes has 5 locations of campus, namely Sekaran campus, Bendan Ngisor campus, Kelud campus, Karanganyar campus and Tegal campus. The location of campus is quite comfortable, wide and green. It is supported by lecturing buildings, laboratories, libraries, auditory building, sport stadiums, art gallery and stages, student center, banks, post office, cafeteria and it is also supported by integrated system of information technology.

PARTNERSHIP
Unnes is open for partnerships with several parties in order to develop science, technology, sport and art to fulfill the main duties of higher education. Several partnerships have been established in teaching and education field such as partnership with Monash University, Wallongong University, Macquaarie University Australia, Pittburg University, Indiana University, Ohio State University USA, Bangkok University, Chulalangkorn University, Asean Institute of Technology Thailand, UPSI, UTM, UNISEL, UNIMAP Malaysia, Sun Moon University Korea, Ningbo University China, and several domestic institutions.

Semarang City

Semarang, a growing city on the north coast of java island, the capital city of central java province.
