Universitas Jember (Unej), Jawa Timur, tidak membuka pendaftaran mahasiswa baru melalui jalur Penelusuran Minat dan Kemampuan (PMDK) 2012 karena ingin mendapatkan kualitas calon mahasiswa yang lebih baik.

"Tahun lalu, jalur PMDK Unej baru diadakan setelah proses SNMPTN selesai, para siswa-siswi yang berprestasi sudah tersaring di jalur undangan dan ujian tulis SNMPTN," kata Kepala Humas dan Protokol Unej Rokhani di Jember, Selasa (31/1).

Kuota calon mahasiswa baru jalur PMDK di Unej tahun 2011 sebanyak 709 orang, sedangkan pada tahun 2010 sebanyak 1.299 orang. Menurut dia, Unej juga mengalami kesulitan untuk menggelar proses pendaftaran PMDK dengan waktu yang terbatas karena proses pendaftaran PMDK pada perguruan tinggi negeri (PTN) tahun lalu kurang dari satu bulan.

"Padahal tahun-tahun sebelumnya proses PMDK mulai pendaftaran hingga pengumuman berjalan empat sampai lima bulan, sehingga tahun ini Unej tidak membuka pendaftaran jalur PMDK dengan berbagai pertimbangan," tuturnya.

Ia menjelaskan Unej membuka tiga jalur penerimaan mahasiswa baru pada tahun akademik 2012/2013 yakni melalui seleksi nasional masuk perguruan tinggi negeri (SNMPTN) jalur undangan dan SNMPTN jalur ujian tulis, serta jalur seleksi mandiri ujian masuk (UM) Unej yang diselenggarakan oleh Unej sendiri.

"Tahun ini, Unej akan menerima 5.560 mahasiswa baru dengan presentase 25 persen dari SNMPTN jalur undangan, 50 persen dari jalur SNMPTN ujian tulis, dan sisanya dari ujian masuk Unej," katanya menjelaskan.

Persentase mahasiswa baru Unej yang diterima dari jalur SNMPTN sebanyak 75 persen tersebut, lanjut dia, merupakan batasan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Kemendikbud yang mengharuskan setiap perguruan tinggi negeri menerima 60 persen mahasiswa barunya dari SNMPTN.

"Pendaftaran SNMPTN jalur undangan dibuka pada 1 Februari hingga 8 Maret 2012, sedangkan untuk SNMPTN jalur ujian tulis pendaftarannya digelar 10-31 Mei 2012," ujarnya menambahkan.

Sedangkan pendaftaran untuk UM Unej gelombang I digelar 9-13 Juli 2012 dan gelombang II yang khusus pendaftaran program diploma dibuka 20- 24 Juli 2012.

Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Mendikbud) M.Nuh menyampaikan beberapa arahan untuk tiga pimpinan perguruan tinggi yang dilantik hari ini, 27/1. Mereka adalah Rektor Universitas Jambi, Prof. Dr. Drs. Aulia Tasman, M.Sc, Rektor Universitas Jember , Dr. Moh. Hasan, M.Sc, Ph.D, dan Direktur Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya RD. Kusumanto, S.T., M.M. Arahan Mendikbud memfokuskan pada kemajuan perguruan tinggi sebagai jenjang tertinggi pendidikan.

Rektor Universitas Jambi, Aulia Tasman, yang pernah menjabat sebagai Ketua Jurusan Ilmu Ekonomi Studi Pembangunan (IESP) Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Jambi pada tahun 2001 ini, menanggapi positif arahan tersebut. Ia menjelaskan, terlebih dahulu akan melakukan penyesuaian program-program Universitas Jember dengan program kerja Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (Dikti), dan arahan Mendikbud.

Universitas Jambi juga akan bekerjasama dengan pemerintah daerah untuk menciptakan sinergi yang baik antara pihak universitas dengan masyarakat sekitar dalam memajukan pendidikan di Jambi. “Nantinya, kerja sama akan dilakukan dalam pembentukan kebijakan terkait pendidikan, tentunya juga pemberian bantuan beasiswa terutama bagi mahasiswa tidak mampu,” ujarnya.

Pesan Mendikbud mengenai pendidikan anti korupsi juga menjadi fokus perhatian bagi rektor yang telah memiliki empat anak ini. “Pendidikan anti korupsi merupakan pekerjaan utama yang paling berat tapi tetap akan diberlakukan,” tegas Aulia, pada wawancara setelah pelantikannya, di kantor Kemdikbud, Jakarta, (27/1). Ia menambahkan, Universitas Jambi sebenarnya sudah memberlakukan sosialisasi mengenai anti korupsi bagi mahasiswa. Sosialisasi akan dilanjutkan pada tahun ini, dan berencana akan memasukkan pendidikan anti korupsi pada substansi perkuliahan.

Sementara itu, Rektor Universitas Jember, Dr. Moh. Hasan, MSc, Ph.D, menjelaskan, ia akan melakukan penyelarasan dengan program Ditjen Dikti agar Universitas Jember bisa menjadi universitas yang berkualitas pada tingkat dunia (World Class University). Pemetaan terhadap kritik yang diberikan kepada Universitas Jember juga akan dilakukan. Selain itu, finalisasi program sebelumnya juga ditempuh. “Implementasinya, mahasiswa juga akan diberikan soft skill terkait yang sudah dijelaskan oleh Pak Menteri,” ujarnya.

Hasan menambahkan, Universitas Jember juga akan tetap memberikan perhatian bagi masyarakat tidak mampu. Penambahan kuota bagi mahasiswa yang tidak mampu secara ekonomi akan disesuaikan dengan sumber daya manusia yang kita punya. “Nanti akan kita lihat, dan cek lebih lagi,” tuturnya. Arahan Mendikbud mengenai pendidikan anti korupi juga akan disinergikan dengan substansi universitas. “Bisa jadi disatukan dalam mata kuliah, atau ada opsi lainnya. Nanti akan dibicarakan lebih lanjut”.
